Our Community

The adoption community is a great resource.  There are many support groups and chat rooms where you will find loads of other families just like yours.  These groups will:

1. Help you decide if adoption is right for you
2. Help you decide whether or not international/transracial adoption is right for your family
3. Help you get through the wait
4. Provide helpful suggestions on where to stay and how to get there when planning for your adoption trip
5. Will be a shoulder to lean on when things get tough pre and post adoption

Regardless which adoption route you choose, there are certain steps you must take

1. Have a home study completed by an approved adoption practitioner
2. Work through an approved agency that is licensed to facilitate adoptions in the country of your choice.

Remember, not all agencies and practitioners are the same. We were very fortunate to have found an amazing practitioner that helped us navigate through a horrendous experience with a not great agency and onto a terrific experience with a much better agency. Do your homework! Interview your practitioner before you sign up. Interview your agency before you sign on.

I have listed below some of the resources that we have used over the years.
